Our Premium Homes team recently worked with Dublin firm Hussey Architects on a private home in Dublin, modernising the bathroom spaces and downstairs flooring in this 1940s terraced property which was part of a larger whole house renovation. Danielle McCarthy who headed up the project for TileStyle's Premium Homes team found the clients had a clear focus on what they wanted to achieve. And with a keen eye for detail they were not afraid to play with colour, resulting in beautiful bathroom spaces reimagined with striking colours and playfulness.
Like many Irish homes, the original bathrooms in this property were compact. The clients were keen to completely modernise the spaces for family use while retaining as many of the original features as possible which can be challenging when renovating an older property. The upstairs family bathroom in particular required extra consideration to configure the best layout in order to retain and restore the original bath. A new walk in shower was also incorporated making the space more functional for family use. The clients favoured small format tiles and chose colourful metro style wall tiles from Quintessenza laid vertically with stone effect floor tiles from Terratinta. The look is completed with elegant brushed brass fixtures and accessories. Sanitary ware is from Porcelanosa.
The original downstairs bathroom has been transformed into a new shower room, equally striking and as colourful as the family bathroom.
A rich and rustic parquet wood floor from Kahrs features in the downstairs hall, kitchen and dining areas, chosen to match an existing wood floor in the adjoining living area.
The outside terrace is another example of striking colour in use with warm terracotta tiles linking the indoor and outdoor spaces.a
