An oasis of calm in Longford. The TileStyle bathroom team worked with EP  Interior Design to transform the bathrooms in a 1970s bungalow, creating  a calm and luxurious spa feel. Having downsized, the client wanted her new home to work not only for herself but also for her adult children when they visit. The completed project has a contemporary Australian feel with Scandinavian influences. Below Elise Peng, Founder of EP Interior Design explains her design approach and how TileStyle were a key part of the process. The bathrooms feature sanitaryware and tiles from Porcelanosa.

TILESTYLE: What was the client's bathroom brief and what did they hope to achieve?

EP INTERIOR DESIGN: The client wanted to create a luxury spa feel for the bathrooms. Neutral colours, very relaxed with quality products to stand the test of time. A mix of white, off white and walnut with warm greys.

TILESTYLE: What wasn't working that needed to be changed?

EP INTERIOR DESIGN: Everything was dated and the layout wasn't working.

TILESTYLE: How did TileStyle help with your design process?

EP INTERIOR DESIGN: The best thing about TileStyle for me is the incredible selection of products on display and the expertise of the bathroom team. I had a 3 step process with this project where firstly I created the design concept, followed by the layout with 3D renders and moodboards. The third step was the selection process in TileStyle's showroom. I met with the bathroom team in the showroom for an hour where we went through moodboards and 3D renders and selected several options. We met with the client afterwards and presented these options. This made the selection process much easier for the client and is invaluable for me as an interior designer.

TILESTYLE: What were the key challenges and how was TileStyle a part of the solution in overcoming them?

EP INTERIOR DESIGN: Dealing with multiple suppliers is always a challenge. It was really pleasant to work with TileStyle on this project as they have such a large variety of tiles and sanitaryware. It's an amazing one-stop shop and made my work a lot easier. I was able to consult with the bathroom team and select final products by meeting with the client in the showroom. The great thing was to organise everything from one supplier. We were able to source everything from Tilestyle. The team was so professional and had great knowledge of the materials and products. They were also informative on lead times.

TILESTYLE: What clever details are there in the bathrooms?

EP INTERIOR DESIGN: Space planning and the colour palette were really important in the bathrooms given they were not large spaces. But I have to say the hero pieces were the reeded glass shower screens, it was such an exciting moment when I discovered that we could source them through TileStyle!

Due to budget constraints we didn't go with natural stone. But by cleverly choosing large textured porcelain wall and floor tiles from Porcelanosa we were still able to create a calm and luxurious feel in both bathrooms.
