An exciting and challenging project for TileStyle. Our brief was to provide floor tiles in smooth black velvet and creamy white, to mirror Diageo’s premium brand, Guinness. These tiles, whilst making a design statement and being easy to maintain, also had to achieve an R10 slip resistance value to comply with Diageo’s health and safety policy.
This project was highly complex. Circa 2,000 square metres of single slab concrete on a steel platform formed a mezzanine floor, with 15 large brewing vessels protruding through the tiled floor surface. A single row of white tiles followed the circumference of each vessel to create an impactful, yet subtle branding statement. These vessels range in diameter from 4 metres to 14 metres. They house three brewing streams with an approximate output of 8 million hectolitres per annum.
The water jet cutting of this material was a difficult undertaking as each vessel was unique in dimension. The project provided TileStyle with an extraordinary opportunity to use design orientated materials in a highly industrial setting.
We are delighted to have been involved in this project which was shortlisted for the “Best Use Of Tile In A Commercial Contract” Award at the 2014 TTA Awards.
