HUNTERSWOOD Self build - Featured on RTE's Home of the Year

TileStyle has a long standing relationship with architect Oliver Nolan having completed several projects with him at ALTU Architects including the highly acclaimed Zurich House in Blackrock, Co Dublin.

Oliver's own house was featured on RTE's Home of the Year last week (28.02.23) and here is a story worth telling. Built during Covid, this is a self build project on family land that has been meticulously documented by Oliver's wife Vickey on their Instagram page @selfbuilding_hunterswood. Their Instagram bio gives a flavour of the project and reads as follows, "Lockdown house started May 2020, moved in October 2020. An architect husband with expensive taste and a bargain hunting wife self-building our dream home".

TileStyle worked closely with Oliver and Vickey as they made several visits to our Ballymount showroom during the course of the design and product selection process. As an architect Oliver is very much driven by cutting edge design, new technologies and sustainability through longevity. He has been a TileStyle guest on factory visits to our Spanish and Italian suppliers and understands the production process and quality of our brands. Oliver was aware of our extensive product options through previous projects with TileStyle, however wanted something a little different for his own house. TileStyle's brief was to deliver colours and textures that could be mixed in geometric linked shapes.

Oliver and Vickey's home features a selection of beautiful products from some of TileStyle's leading international brands such as wood floors from Kahrs, wall and floor tiles from Italgraniti and bathware from Noken Porcelanosa Group.

Selection of the sanitaryware was about marrying the mood of the rooms. One of the baths has a bespoke black wrap, the brassware sleek and black to match.

A key challenge for TileStyle on this project was creating a bespoke solution to match the crayon floor tiles with the hexagon shaped wall tiles in their en-suite bathroom.

Room with a view! Their luxurious free standing bath from Noken Porcelanosa Group in the main bedroom with spectacular views of the countryside.
