The TileStyle Art of Rubbish Competition was designed to address two of Ireland's most pressing problems – unemployment and environmental pollution. The competition targeted the corporate sector, schools and artists.

The launch took place on Kenny live in September 1996 and the response from each sector was tremendous. The most creative and innovative pieces made went on display in Dublin Castle in March 1997.

The exhibition was opened by the President of Ireland at that time, Mary Robinson and the campaign won a Special Recognition Award for this innovative and environmentally friendly sponsorship.
