We are absolutely thrilled to have, once again, won the award for "Excellence in Independent Retailing" at the 2015 Crystal Anniversary of the TTA Awards last Saturday evening, 18th of April.

Our 2015 TTA Award for Excellence in Independent Retailing and some of the winners with host Emma Jesson.

A TTA Award is an outstanding symbol of excellence celebrating the best in the wall and floor tiling industry and the annual awards ceremony is a fantastic networking opportunity for all involved in tiles and the tiling industry.

This particular award recognises superior retail management and customer care levels, as well as excellent staff training and product display standards in the tile industry.

We were up against some of the best independent tile retailers in the industry in both the UK and Ireland and to have won this award means a lot to us.

 Ceramic Art Exhibition Launch

Last night in the TileStyle showroom, we had the launch of "Transform", an exhibition of bespoke ceramic pieces created by the 3rd year students from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.

There was a fantastic turn out for the launch with over 90 guests in attendance. Light refreshments were served whilst some soft jazz music echoed delicately throughout the showroom as the attendees were enveloped by the inspirational work of the students.

TileStyle's Retail Director and avid art enthusiast, Gerard McNaughton, opened the exhibition followed by a few words from both Lisa Young, lecturer to the ceramics students and Derek McGarry, Head of Design Innovation & Engagement in the National College of Art and Design.

The exhibition is the result of an innovative Knowledge Transfer Programme partnership between TileStyle and The National College of Art and Design.

The students were asked to select a theme relating to the aspect of transform that they wished to explore and develop and create a wall mountable ceramic piece appropriate to this theme.

To further enhance the programme each ceramics student was paired with a visual communications student whose role was to develop a brand identity for the ceramic artist or their piece and document the process.

The ceramics students also faced the challenge of developing and communicating their ideas to their visual communications partner as well as engaging their TileStyle partner in a learning experience.

It was both a successful and memorable evening and we would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to all the students on creating such awe-inspiring pieces that we can proudly exhibit in the TileStyle showroom.

The exhibition is open to the public and will run until the 15th of March in TileStyle and it is definitley worth a look.

Love it or loathe it, Valentine's Day is just around the corner and there's no escaping the hype that comes along with it. For many people in relationships, Valentine's Day is a big deal, so whatever you have planned for this Saturday the 14th of February, be sure to make it memorable!

Whether you like to celebrate with your loved one by taking a romantic trip away or by a simple gesture of kindness to show how much you care, here's a few ideas to help make it that little bit more special this year.

Bathtime: Run your loved one a bath, light them some scented candles and pour them a glass of their favourite beverage. There is nothing quite like a long, relaxing soak in a bath to unwind and de-stress after a busy working week. Have fluffy towels or bathrobes ready for when you are ready to get out of the bath. As an extra loving touch, warm the towels or robes ahead of using a towel warmer.

Spa Day: You could treat yourselves to a couple's spa day and just simply enjoy the time together whilst getting pampered. There are some great deals and packages out there so there really is no excuse!

Simply Enjoy Each Other's Company: Sometimes the best Valentine's Day gift you can give is the gift of uninterrupted time together doing nothing. You don't need to leave the house to make Valentine's Day special. Think of how great it could be to spend the entire day together - without interruption.

Trusty Box of Choccies: Everyone loves a box of chocolates, I know I certainly do anyway! An obvious gift for Valentine 's Day but I'm sure no-one will be complaining!

Valentine's Day doesn't have to cost a fortune or be especially elaborate, but making your loved one feel special is essential. Why not use it as an excuse to treat yourself and your loved one to the pampering you both deserve.

Wishing you a LOVEly Valentines Day this year from all of us here in TileStyle

ncad-7.jpgYesterday morning we had a visit from our partners in the National College of Art & Design with whom we are collaborating on the innovative "Knowledge Transfer Project"

At around 11am, the reception of TileStyle was buzzing with the excitement and chatter of the upcoming exhibition "Transform" that will be launched in TileStyle in early February this year.

Retail Director, Gerard McNaughton, welcomes students and teachers from the NCAD in the reception of TileStyle

Firstly, the group from the NCAD were taken on an informative tour of the showroom by TileStyle's Retail Director and art enthusiast, Gerard McNaughton.

They were given an insight into the layout of the showroom, what kind of products we supply and what is currently trending in the world of tiles, stone, bathrooms and wood flooring.

Après-tour, there was a short Q&A session in the training room and the opportunity for the students to chat with their TileStyle partner about their work in progress.

Students of the NCAD arriving up to the training room for the Q&A session

TileStyle is, and always has been, a supporter of the Arts and we are proud to be collaborating once again with the NCAD on this "Knowledge Transfer Programme"

Last years exhibition "Collection" was a huge success and we are delighted to be joining forces with the NCAD again this year for this particular programme.

This year the students are bringing a whole new creative concept to the table! We are really looking forward to seeing the finished pieces and showcasing them in the TileStyle showroom.

The public exhibition is likely to go ahead in early February but the date is yet to be confirmed so watch this space!

As we begin another year, we take a look back at some (just some!) of our favourite moments of 2014!

From the major expansion of our Bathroom Showroom to the TileStyle Ice Bucket Challenge, there have been a lot of positive and fun challenges along the way!

Collaboration with the National College of Art & DesignIn February, TileStyle launched an exhibition called "Collection" to showcase the pieces of ceramic art created by NCAD students. This was part of a "Knowledge Transfer Programme", whereby TileStyle worked with a group of NCAD Ceramics Students in the development of bespoke ceramic pieces. In turn, the students gained an opportunity to apply their skills in a "real world" setting and benefit from TileStyle's commercial expertise.

The Major Expansion of our Bathroom Showroom – In March 2014, we invested heavily in the expansion of our Bathroom Showroom. We doubled the footprint of our Bathroom Showroom to include 25 new settings and introduced many new and exclusive bathroom brands including Vola, Keramag and Hansgrohe.

Stunning Photographic Exhibition – In April, award winning Irish architectural and fine art landscape photographer, Enda Cavanagh, launched his stunning photographic exhibition; Retrospective 01 in TileStyle. It was a majorly successful launch and we look forward to see what Enda has in store next!

Jim McNaughton/TileStyle €10,000 Bursary Winner 2014 – The bursary was awarded to Petal Pilley, director of the Blue Teapot Theatre Company at the 2014 Allianz Business to Arts Awards in September. The Blue Teapot Theatre Company is a performing arts school and outreach project for people with intellectual disabilities.

Houzz Event - At the beginning of November, Houzz came to TileStyle to host their first ever professional presentation in Ireland. We were delighted to have been approached by Houzz to host such a significant event and to make matters even more exciting, the co-founder and CEO of Houzz, Adi Tatarko, was there on the evening.

Shipping Container Home – TileStyle were delighted to be involved in the creation of Ireland's first shipping container home by donating the sanitary ware for this project. The container was built in 3 days in December and was donated to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul to help house a homeless family.

Last but not least.... The TileStyle Ice Bucket Challenge! On Friday 22nd August 2014, the team at TileStyle took on the Ice Bucket Challenge in aid of The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association(IMNDA). We managed to raise €500 for this charity in the space of 24 hours and also had great fun whilst doing so!

In case you've forgotten, here's the video again :)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSTq3L27tOw

Well, it's been a good year, thanks to the positive growth in economy and not to mention the hard work and effort of the TileStyle team.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support in 2014 and wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year ahead.

Lisa Young, Ceramics Lecturer holds a team from TileStyle spellbound at NCAD.

We are delighted to announce that once again, we have teamed up with the NCAD (The National College of Art & Design) on an innovative "Knowledge Transfer Programme", whereby we will work with a group of NCAD Ceramics Students in the development of a collection of bespoke ceramic pieces. In turn, the students will gain an opportunity to apply their skills in a "real world" setting and benefit from TileStyle's commercial expertise.

The theme for this years project is "Transform".

And yesterday we visited the NCAD and witnessed the early stages of what looks set to be - eight astounding Ceramic pieces.

Jane Frew, Student at NCAD introduces her project to the TileStyle team.

This year eight Ceramics students will take part in the programme.  Each student has been "buddied" with a member of the TileStyle team who will lend their expertise on ceramics to the process. Equally, we will learn about The World of the Ceramics Student. In addition, the programme has been expanded to involve eight NCAD Visual Communications students who will document the process from start to finish.

The project will culminate in a public exhibition here in our showroom at Ballymount.
